Mike Diamond
(Senior Kettlebell Instructor)
Mike
has been training clients of all ages and fitness levels
since 1974. He currently lives in St. Louis, Missouri
and is co-owner of St. Louis Self Defense and Fitness where
he serves as a teacher, coach and motivator.
Before moving to St. Louis in
2004, Mike owned and operated his own private fitness studio
in Los Angeles. He worked with many high profile
clients and established himself as someone who gets
"results".
Mike's 35 plus years in the
fitness industry has taught him how important it is to
continually evolve in all aspects of training. As the
famed UCLA coach John Wooden said "It's what you learn after
you know it all that counts".
Enter Shawn Mozen and enter the
kettlebell. In 2008, he and Shawn were hired to
co-teach the Instructor Certification course for Elite
Combat Fitness. The course included an Elite
Kettlebell Certification that Shawn created. It was
there that Mike was able to witness first hand the
incredible workout the kettlebell provided. It
delivered a "compound workout" training the entire body in a
"compact time". Mike was also impressed with the
strength and endurance benefits received training with
kettlebells. He loved the kb's simplicity "It is a gym in
your hand" a "mobile gym" that you could take with you
anywhere (inside/outside) and train.
Since
his introduction to the kettlebell by Shawn, Mike has also
been able to train with Jeff Martone and is a certified
kettlebell instructor through Crossfit as well as Agatsu.
He has incorporated kettlebells
into a major part of his and his private clients training
programs and added them into his schools curriculum with
great success.
He looks forward to passing on
his knowledge and passion to everyone he trains!

Tyson LaRone
(Senior Kettlebell Instructor)
My
journey in fitness began at a very young age, as a
competitive swimmer. Benefiting from the guidance
of some of Canada’s foremost coaches, I traveled all
over Canada and the United States to compete, and when I
was thirteen years old, I achieved a rank of 2nd in
Canada for 200m Butterfly. At the age of fifteen, I was
introduced to kettlebell training around the same time I
retired from swimming and discovered Ketto Ryu Ju-Jutsu.
After four years of Ketto Ryu Ju-Jutsu, I switched to
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under the tutelage of Mike Yackulic,
where I continue to train to this day. I am now a purple
belt under Mike Yackulic and Sylvio Behring.
I obtained a diploma from the
Somatics Institute of Massage Therapy, but fitness was
always my true passion, and I quit my job as a massage
therapist to pursue my dream of being one of Canada’s
top strength and conditioning instructors. I have taken
huge steps toward my dream by training extensively with
Shawn Mozen and obtaining his Level 1 and 2 Agatsu
certifications. After running my own company, Machine
Shop Kettlebell Concepts, and creating the F.A.S.T.
Fitness program, I am now setting my sights on the
future as the head trainer of Agatsu West, and as an
Agatsu Elite. It is a huge honour to join such
distinguished company as Shawn and the other Elites, and
I’m very excited to be a part of Canada’s gold standard
for kettlebell training.

Willie Albert
(Technical Director for Agatsu Barbell Certification)

Willie Albert won a silver at the Raw World Powerlifting
Championships on the 2ndOct 2009 He made all of his attempts
(even his benches, Willie's least favorite lift), topping
out with a 252.5kg (556.6lbs) Back Squat, a 160kg
(352.75lbs) Bench Press and finishing with a massive 325kg
(716.5lbs) Deadlift, for a 737.5kg (1626lbs) total in the
82.5kg bodyweight class. The Russian athlete who came in
first totaled 752.5kg including an incredible 210kg (467lbs)
Bench Press. Remember this was the RAW World's, only a belt
allowed, no suit, no knee wraps in fact the knees had to be
bare. Willie incredibly out dead lifted all of the 90kg
lifters (the weight class above) in the competition. For
someone who started lifting as a skinny kid 14 years ago
he's become one of the premiere raw powerlifters in the
world through tons of hard work and consistency.
Along with his physical accomplishments Willie is an
outstanding coach who shares his knowledge at his gym in
Ottawa and on the road conducting Agatsu Barbell
Certifications along with Pierre Auge. |
