For the past 25 years “Coach Dom” as he’s
known at the gym has led the very successful Aquinas Boxing
Program (“Mission Bouts”) as director and head
coach. Under his leadership he has taught hundreds of boys
and girls, on proper conditioning, the sweet science (boxing)
and most importantly lessons in life. The boxing program
at Aquinas Institute is one of the only organized high school
boxing programs in the country. Also for the past 7 years
he has assisted Ron Resnick with the Montgomery Boxing Program
as a certified USA Boxing Association coach.
In 1997 Coach Dom was inducted into the Aquinas Institute
Hall of Fame.
In 1992 he also was awarded the prestigious “Pete
Provenzano Award” by the Rochester Boxing Hall of
Fame for his contribution to the sport of Boxing
In 1988 he received the Rochester Boxing Associations;
“Distinguished Service Award”.
In the late 60’s and 70’s he boxed for and
trained under Ossie Sussman, Al Brocutto, Sgt. John Denaro
and the legendary Frankie Verna, some of the top trainers
and coaches of that era.
Coach Dom is also well versed in conditioning, strength
training and program development for boxers, boxing enthusiasts
and individuals interested in fitness in general of all
ages and abilities. Coach Dom who is always looking to improve
his knowledge of physical conditioning techniques became
aware of Russian kettlebells in 2002 through his good friend
and long time training partner Robert Urtis. Together they
noticed the benefits of using kettlebells and began to work
together developing their own abilities with the kb’s
and noticed an increase in both functional strength and
endurance. In 2004 Coach Dom attended an intense training
seminar with some of the top RKC instructors in the USA
and further honed his skills, in 2005 he attended a similar
seminar in San Franscico.
On June 2-4th Coach Arioli attended a 3 day Russian Kettlebell
certification seminar/exam in Montreal Canada, the certification
exam was made up of hours of physical training, individual
demonstration of proper form and technique using the kettlebells,
a written exam, followed by an intense physical endurance
test using the kettlebells. This was all carefully critiqued
and scored by nationally recognized Canadian Kettlebell
expert and founder of the Agatsu form of self defense Shawn

Coach Dom is also a member of the National Strength and
Conditioning Association. He has trained many local boxers
and athletes, notably Ryan Callahan who just signed with
the New York Rangers of the NHL. Today you can find Coach
Dom at the Roc boxing and fitness Center as a coach and
