Fitness has not come easily to me. It has been a journey paved with hard work and determination, borne out of necessity. Faced with major health problems in 1999, I sought to heal myself from the inside out, researching nutrition and fitness as a path to long term physical and mental health. After healing myself, I realized my purpose was to help others do the same and in 2009 I founded CrossFit Winnipeg. As founder and head coach at CrossFit Winnipeg, my mission is to help ordinary people find extraordinary fitness. I use kettlebells, gymnastics, weightlifting, nutrition and recovery techniques to help my clients achieve long term health and become who they’ve always wanted to be. I believe that true happiness cannot be separated from physical health and I aim to make people happier by helping them get healthier.
I hold an Hon. B.Sc. from the University of Toronto with a joint major in Mathematics and Philosophy, along with multiple certifications in CrossFit, Can Fit Pro, Level 1 OPT Coaching Certification, Poliquin Biosignature and Functional Movement Systems. After meeting Shawn in 2009, it became clear that my values were aligned with Agatsu’s values and with Shawn’s coaching philosophy. I’ve since done Agatsu Barbell and Mobility certifications, in addition to training to become an Agatsu Level 2 Kettllebell instructor. The Agatsu Level 2 Kettlebell certification was a turning point in my career and my training, reinforcing the importance of training for life.
Despite the physical challenge that kettlebell training provides, I find joy and peace in kettlebell practice. I continue to be inspired every time I get the opportunity to train with Shawn or any of the Agatsu Elite Team. I’m grateful and honoured to become part of the senior instruction staff.
